Michael Wigert ’92 is a seasoned animation industry professional with over 27 years of experience, known for his artistic vision and strategic leadership. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Washington and Lee University in 1992. Michael began his career in visual effects at Disney’s The Secret Lab during a pivotal shift from practical filmmaking to digital animation. He became a trusted production partner at Walt Disney Animation and Disneytoon Studios, where his leadership contributed to the success of films like "Bolt" and "Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast," both grossing over $100 million. As Vice President of Studio Planning and Operations at Disney TVA, Michael skillfully managed the transition to virtual workspaces, supporting the studio and its artists through the challenges of lockdown. Since 2022, he has served as the Senior Manager of Production for Animated Comedy at Netflix, where he oversees multiple series, fosters global partnerships, and nurtures emerging talent. Michael's blend of artistic vision and strategic acumen continues to guide the future of animated storytelling. Outside of work, he is passionate about gaming, painting and the plastic drug known as LEGO. Looking ahead, Michael is excited to see the next generation of storytellers and where their imaginations take them!
